Clinching Technology

——New technology for metal joining instead of spot welding

 

 

1. What is Clinching?

The special non-rive joint mold is deformed by cold extrusion under the action of external force, so that the material to be joined combines to produce material flow at the joint point,forming a joint process of plastic deformation, which is called a riveted joint. The point has a certain tensile strength and shear strength.

The rivetless joints can be divided into circular joints and rectangular joints according to the rivetless mold.

2. Clinching process 

At the beginning, the no-rive upper mold will cause plastic deformation of the overlapping sheets in the lower mold cavity. The lower die will open as two or three lobes, but will remain closed. When the underlying material approaches the bottom of the lower mold cavity, the sheet will expand into a mushroom shape. During this process, the lower die will be pushed outward. When the upper die returns and the lower die rises, the lower die will reclose and be pulled out by a stripper. Figure 3

3, The advantage of no riveting Clinching (Compared with spot welding)
